Project overview
In Gaza, much of the available groundwater is too salty or too contaminated to drink safely, and damaged networks have made the problem worse. Clean Water & Desalination Systems tackles that at scale — installing and running the treatment plants and desalination units that make water genuinely safe.
The project funds small and mid-scale desalination units that remove salt and impurities, reverse-osmosis and filtration systems, and the fuel or solar power needed to keep them running. Treated water is stored in tanks and distributed through community tap-stands and water trucks to shelters and neighbourhoods whose own supply has failed.
Keeping a system running is as important as installing it. We fund the fuel, membranes, filters and spare parts these units consume, train local operators to run and maintain them, and monitor water quality continuously so families can trust every litre that comes out.
Where a well provides a source, a treatment system provides the safety. Together they form a resilient supply — one that protects thousands of people from the waterborne disease that follows whenever unsafe water is all a family has to drink.
